Nina Lansbury Hall

Dr Nina Lansbury Hall manages the Sustainable Water program at the Global Change Institute (GCI) at The University of Queensland (UQ), with the aim of catalysing transdisciplinary projects to respond to complex issues around the sustainable and integrated development, management and use of water resources with social, environmental and economic considerations. She also contributes to GCI’s work on renewable energy solutions from a societal acceptance perspective. Nina is also involved in communicating research findings into policy-relevant outcomes with stakeholders, which includes community engagement, behaviour change and policy analysis, and to building the capacity of research organisations to enhance their engagement with policymakers. Nina has worked on environmental and social sustainability issues in research and non-government organisations and she is motivated by an aim to create and contribute to high-impact research that responds to complex or ‘wicked’ environmental and social challenges in Australia and globally. Her current research at UQ examines the implementation challenges and opportunities for the UN Sustainable Development Goals; sustainable provision and evaluation of water, sanitation and hygiene in development, including in Australia’s remote Aboriginal communities; integrated water resource management and communication of river catchments; community-led sustainability initiatives, including on wind energy generation; and processes towards conducting transdisciplinary research collaborations.
