Prof. JAMES EVANS works at Manchester University in the UK and he is a visiting professor at Lund University. His research explores how cities learn to become more sustainable. He has published widely on urban environmental governance. His current research investigates the role living labs are playing in sustainable urban development. James is committed to developing innovative and interdisciplinary action research styles, and he has worked with a range of external organisations, including the UN and national governments.

How can we shape urban development towards sustainable and prosperous futures? This course will explore sustainable cities as engines for greening the economy. We place cities in the context of sustainable urban transformation and climate change. Sustainable urban transformation refers to structural transformation processes – multi-dimensional and radical change – that can effectively direct urban development towards ambitious sustainability and climate goals.
