Helena Gillespie is Senior Lecturer in Education and Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Social Sciences. After leaving UEA with a BA(Hons), PGCE and Masters in Education, she spent ten years teaching in Primary Schools before returning to Higher Education as a PGCE tutor, and gaining a PG Certificate in Higher Education Practice. Helena now teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the field of Learning Technology and Primary Education, as well as on the University’s professional development programme. As Associate Dean she provides strategic leadership in the quality assurance of learning and teaching in the faculty, as well as supporting the development of assessment and curriculum in a variety on contexts. Helena also chairs the University’s Information Services Education Board. Helena’s research interests are in Learning Technology, and she is leading the University’s partnership with FutureLearn, the first UK based MOOC provider. She is a regular contributor to the debate about learning technology in higher education in general and MOOCs in particular.
