Giuliano Ramat

Degree in Forestry in 1997 in Florence and Master’s degree in Geomatics and Natural Resources Evaluation at the Istituto Agronomico per l’Oltremare in Florence, held by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs. For more than fifteen years he has been working in the sector of remote sensing and geographic information systems both in Italy and abroad – mostly in Africa and Asia, being currently on-site coordinator of an Italian cooperation project in Afghanistan. He has wide fieldwork experience in several developing countries, as well as data collection and editing in GIS environments. He has worked as international expert in many projects funded by European Union, FAO, and Italian Cooperation in Northern, Sub-Saharan, and Eastern Africa, Central Asia and in Cyprus. He is the training activities coordinator for GISMAP helding several GIS courses in English, Italian and French. He is member of the gvSIG Italian community working on testing and documentation.
