Giovanni Lapenta

Giovanni Lapenta (PhD in nuclear engineering and plasma physics, 1993) is a full professor at KU Leuven and has worked at Politecnico di Torino, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of California at Los Angeles and University of Colorado in Boulder. Giovanni is an expert on space science, plasmas, high performance computing, artificial intelligence and nuclear engineering. Giovanni has led or participated in numerous national and international projects and published numerous articles in international peer reviewed journals reaching an h-index of 50. Giovanni led the development and currently maintains the massively parallel computer code iPic3D in use by many teams around the world. Giovanni teaches classes in differential equations for students of the bachelor in mathematics and physic and space science and plasma physics for master students.
