Erik Fortune

Erik Fortune is a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft, working on developer platforms. Previously he worked at IBM, Digital, Silicon Graphics, and WebTV. Erik has more than 30 years of experience in the high-tech industry, including 20+ years of globalization & world readiness work as individual contributor, architect and Lead Developer. Most of his dozen or so patents are globalization-related and he is the co-author of The X Window System Server. In other words, Erik is an Expert’s Expert.
Erik not only designs and implements world-ready software, he lives it. He uses a German keyboard with US locale conventions. One of his proudest personal achievements has been to raise two kids to be bi-literate and fluent German-English bilinguals.
