Dilip Nathwani
Professor Dilip Nathwani is a Consultant Physician of Infectious Diseases and Honorary Professor of Infection at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. He is also Chair of the: ‘Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group’ (a sub-group of the Scottish Medicines Consortium); the ‘European Study Group on Antibiotic Policies’ and the ‘British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy Group (OPAT).’ In addition, Professor Nathwani is also Director of Medical Education for NHS Tayside and National Specialty Adviser for Infectious Diseases to the Scottish Government Health Department.
He has authored more than 225 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to 20 National and International infection guidelines and consensus statements (including those for the ‘Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network’, the ‘British Thoracic Society’ and BSAC). In 1998 Professor Nathwani was also awarded the Scottish Quality Award for the OPAT service for NHS Tayside as well as the Douglas-Adamson Award for Clinical Excellence and Patient Care.
