Desire Musharitse

Mr. Desire Musharitse is a secondee to the World Bank Group from the government of Burundi where he is Director of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in the Ministry of Finance, reporting directly to the Minister of Finance. In Burundi’s Ministry of Finance he is responsible for developing the Ministry’s action plan for finance and monitoring its effective implementation. He previously coordinated the Ministry’s reforms and partnership framework between the government and donors. This included definition of structural reform programs in public financial management and monitoring the implementation of donor budget support programs. In this role he also managed the convergence of processes and procedures of the development aid of different donors. Previously he was head of the Ministry’s External Debt Department, where he coordinated the implementation of the Debt Relief Initiative for Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC). He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Administrative Sciences from the University of Burundi.
