Dr Cliff Atkins is a senior lecturer in the School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington. He has a PhD in geology and has a long association with Antarctica, having visited the ice 12 times on various research projects, including deep field mapping expeditions and large multinational drilling projects. His research and teaching relates to understanding sedimentary processes and environments. Cliff's recent Antarctic research has focused on the palaeoclimate implications of glacial sediments, glacial geomorphology and windblown dust. In the 2015 book Exploring the Last Continent: An introduction to Antarctica, Cliff contributed a chapter on “Looking back to the Future: Palaeoclimate studies in Antarctica”.
