Brooke Parks

Brooke Parks is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. In this role, she uses her experience as a former English professor to emphasize the importance of writing skills, presentation skills, teamwork/leadership, diversity/inclusion, and ethics in academia and industry. Through joint efforts with lab staff and specialized undergraduate and graduate-level communication seminar courses that offer hands-on practice, she provides students with strategies to excel in these areas at Purdue – and in their future careers.
Brooke Parks earned her BA from DePauw University and her MFA from The University of Alabama. She taught English at the The University of Alabama and the University of West Georgia for 12 years. Since 2015, she’s been the Lead Instructional Specialist in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University where she teaches incredible college students and diligent life-long learners to be effective and empathetic in their communication. She is also the Creative Director for Hodges Marketing Solutions, keeping her foot in the industry world and creating campaigns for a diverse portfolio of clients.
Before work and after work, she lives with the three best people in the world. Her girl is a ball of wonder and encouragement, full of sass and love. Her boy is a tangle of preciousness and grit, full of tenacity and charm. This chaotic and joyful bunch is kept in (semi)order by her gracious, slow-paced, brilliant husband. In the slivers of time between, she writes.
