Björn-Sören Gigler

Soren Gigler is a Visiting Assistant Professor for Political Economy at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He is a political economist and his main research field is the impact of information and communication technologies (ICTs) on enhancing the well-being of poor communities. Soren Gigler also is a Senior Governance Specialist at the World Bank. He coordinates the Innovations in Governance program which aims to leverage innovative ICTs to make development programs more open, inclusive and effective. He has taught and carried out research on multi-dimensional aspects of poverty, human development, and ICT for development at the London School of Economics, Georgetown University, the Universidad Católica Boliviana, Bolivia and the Universidad los Andes, Colombia. He holds a Ph.D. in Development Studies from the London School of Economics, a M.S. in Economics from the University of Munich and a M.A. in International Affairs from the Elliott School, George Washington University.
