Bernardo Ramirez
Bernardo Ramirez, M.D., M.B.A. is an Associate Professor and Director of the Executive Master in Science in Health Services Administration Program (e-MSHSA) and of Global Health Initiatives of the Department of Health Management and Informatics at the University of Central Florida, where he teaches U.S. Health Systems, International Health Systems, Issues and Trends in the Health Professions, Quality Improvement, and Strategic Planning in the graduate and undergraduate programs.
Dr. Ramirez is an experienced health services administrator in public and private organizations and his experience includes clinical practice and administrative experience from the hospital departmental level to the health systems planning and policy levels. He has provided technical assistance, developed research, and conducted training under the auspices of the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Pan American Health Organization, The World Health Organization, The International Hospital Federation, The World Bank, The Inter-American Development Bank, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for 35 years in more than 60 countries on five continents. Among other positions, he has been General Director of Health Standards of the Ministry of Health of Mexico; President of the Mexican Hospital Association; Vice-President and Director of International Programs of AUPHA, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration-AUPHA.
He has taught online courses in UCF since 2006 and he taught a MOOC on Canvas Network focused on international health systems during spring 2013. He is the author of numerous publications and training materials and presenter in many national and international forums on topics such as health management training and human resource development; performance assessment, quality improvement, and institutional accreditation; strategic and change management; and health systems reform and sustainability.
