Syllabus
WEEK 1
What is Innovation?
Innovation is a broad term. In this module, we’ll demystify the word and provide context by describing the different types of innovation using examples from a variety of industries. We'll also examine the barriers to innovation in today's organizations.
WEEK 2
Innovation Framework
This module introduces you to an innovation framework to help drive innovation in a pragmatic, purposeful way. You'll learn how to implement that fundamental management framework for moving innovation forward in a positive direction. These concepts will be illustrated in a lesson on the Mayo Digital Health Platform.
WEEK 3
User and Buyer Segmentation
This module on user and buyer segmentation will cover some simple but powerful methods for further defining the focus for an innovation. We call this segmenting markets for growth - by users, buyers, and use cases - for the application of technologies and services.
WEEK 4
User Centered Design
Breakthrough scientific discovery might happen in moments of brilliant, individual thought and experimentation; innovation, on the other hand, is the application of existing and new science and technology to user problems in specific use cases. This module examines the methods required for effective user-centered design.
