Dr. Buhr Sullivan is deeply committed to developing climate science literacy within communities of teachers, students, and the public at large. Her research has centered on how climate science is communicated with and understood by teachers and students. She is extensively involved in working with teachers and school districts to design and provide professional development for K-12 science teachers to meet the increasing need for climate science content development in the K-12 classroom context. Dr. Buhr Sullivan has a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry and is the current president of the National Association of Geoscience Teachers.
