Micah Bateman




Micah Bateman is from Jacksonville, Texas. He currently lives with his wife in Iowa City, where he studies library science at the University of Iowa, works for the International Writing Program, and edits petripress.org. He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, where he was a Teaching-Writing Fellow and postgraduate Provost Fellow. He is the recipient of the Lyric Poetry Award from the Poetry Society of America, and his first book of poetry, Bastard Star, is forthcoming from Eyewear Publishing in 2015.

Every Atom: Walt Whitman’s Song of Myself will take a collective approach to a close reading of America’s democratic verse epic, first published without a title in the 1855 edition of Leaves of Grass and later titled Song of Myself in the 1881 edition.
