Kris A. Murray

 

 


 

Kris Murray is assistant professor of Humanities at Sauk Valley Community College where she has taught for 24 years. Her research interests include digital humanities, the history of work and leisure, and the Chicago Columbian Exposition of 1893. Kris was introduced to the Columbian Exposition in 1993, the 100th anniversary of the Fair, and has been hooked ever since.

For six months, the Chicago Columbian Exposition of 1893 dazzled both Americans and the world. The largest World’s Fair to date, the Chicago Fair entertained, amazed, and edified 27 million people, introduced hundreds of new technologies and products, and left us legacies such as the carnival midway, the ferris wheel, the trade show, not to mention Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer and Wrigley Gum.
