Karsten Øster Lundqvist

I am Karsten Øster Lundqvist. I work as a Lecuterer in Computer Science with special responsibilities in International teaching at University of Reading in the UK. A position I started on in January 2013. Before that I worked as a Teaching Fellow for 1 and a half year, and before that as a Research Assistant for 6 years at the University. My research interest is broad with special interest in eLearning and knowledge representation. My way into computer science have been long; I’ve had computer science as my hobby since 1984 when I got my first Sinclair Spectrum, and I started programming a year later on my Amstrad CPC 464. I’ve now managed to finish a PhD while working full-time and a BSc in just under 8 years! Before starting studying Computer Science as a mature student, I served my beloved country Denmark for a year, studied economics for 2 years, worked as a salesman selling tools to the furniture industry and the recruitment industry in Denmark in total for more than 7 years and 2 years as a logistic manager in a publishing house before finding my true calling in Computer Science!

In my spare time I run a company where I develop mobile phone apps. At the moment mostly concentrated on the Android platform. You can see some of the apps I have created by clicking the icons to the right.

Learn the basics of Java programming by developing a simple mobile game that you can run on your computer, Android phone, or tablet. Programming is everywhere: in dishwashers, cars and even space shuttles. This course will help you to understand how programs work and guide you through creating your own computer program – a mobile game.
