Eden Haverfield

Eden Haverfield is an ABMG certified Clinical Molecular Geneticist and the director of the Microarray Sequencing Diagnostics and Quantitative PCR/MLPA (CopyDx) groups at GeneDx. She received her B.A. in Biological Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the University of Oxford in Oxford, England. During her Ph.D. and as a post-doctoral fellow at Oxford, she worked on genetic modifiers of sickle cell disease severity with Professors Ryk Ward and Sir David Weatherall. Eden then spent two years as a post-doctoral fellow in Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacogenomics at the University of Chicago where she studied genetic variation in drug metabolizing enzymes. Eden then went on to complete her ABMG accredited clinical molecular genetics training at the University of Chicago. During her post-doctoral training she also worked on projects to improve diagnostic testing for several rare genetic diseases. Prior to joining GeneDx in 2010, Eden was the assistant director at the University of Chicago Genetic Services Laboratory.
