Introduction to Agile Theory. Learn faster, build better products (Skillshare)
Agile working helps teams work faster and build better products and services. But what is it? How does it work? And why is it such a game-changer? With origins in IT and software development, its lessons are universal, regardless of the industry you're in, the type of project you're working on or the size of your team, join this class and learn the fundamentals of Agile Theory.

This class will give you an introduction and overview of Agile Theory, to help you understand how an Agile approach could transform your business, team or project.

You will learn:

- What are the different types of problem that a business can face

- What are the general structures of a project and which is best for which scenario

- Why an Agile approach is best suited for complex, novel situations

- How Agile helps a team to learn, adapt and build better products and services faster for your customers

You may be a manager looking to get the most out of your team, a team member looking to improve your team’s ways of working, an entrepreneur trying to build a new business, or a freelance project manager looking to add a new approach to help your clients.

All you’ll need is to follow along and bring your curiosity about how an Agile approach applies to your world.

For this class project I want you to run a retrospective with a team (or yourself), based on the Agile Principles.

- Make a copy of this google slide template

- Give edit access to your team, and facilitate a conversation where you explain the Agile Manifesto Values based on what you learn in this class

- Then run the following activity:

1. For each of the 4 Agile Values, ask each member of your team to think about your team practices, and individually to drag a black dot at the top of the slide onto the line between the item on the left and the item on the right.

2. Then ask the team why they put the dot where they did, and encourage open conversation. Why did they put it where they did?

3. Then move to slide 2, and ask the team to silently think of a couple of actions each which could help the team move a little bit further to the left.

4. Talk through the ideas, and ask the team to agree on one which is small enough to be completed in 2 weeks, and decide who amongst you is going to do it

5. Arrange another conversation in 2 weeks time, and see if the action got done, and whether it has helped the team

Post a summary of the conversation on the community board, and see how the Agile Values Retrospective has helped other teams! Make sure you include any questions you couldn't answer so I and the community can help you out, and I can make a future video covering what you're interested in :D
