Syllabus:

Week 1: Entre números y cálculos

Week 2: El Contexto Real del Movimiento

Week 3: Generalizando para hacer matemáticas

Week 4: Aplicamos: del Contexto Matemático de Nuevo al Contexto Real

This is a master course given in Moscow at the Laboratory of Algebraic Geometry of the National Research University Higher School of Economics by Valery Gritsenko, a professor of University Lille 1, France. Jacobi forms are holomorphic functions in two complex variables. They are modular in one variable and abelian (or double periodic) in another variable. The theory of Jacobi modular forms became an independent research subject after the famous book of Martin Eichler and Don Zagier “Jacobi modular forms” (Progress in Mathematics, vol. 55, 1985) which was cited more than a thousand times in research papers.

Citizen Maths is for adults who want to improve their grasp of maths at what in England is referred to as Level 2, that is, the level that 16 year old school leavers are expected to achieve (although many do not). The course is structured around "powerful ideas", with the first powerful idea covered in the course launching now being proportion Proportion matters because it sits behind so many aspects of every-day maths, for example when you are sharing out costs, or altering a mixture, comparing amounts, or scaling something up or down.

Oct 24th 2016

Learn how probability, math, and statistics can be used to help baseball, football and basketball teams improve, player and lineup selection as well as in game strategy.

Calculus is one of the grandest achievements of human thought, explaining everything from planetary orbits to the optimal size of a city to the periodicity of a heartbeat. This brisk course covers the core ideas of single-variable Calculus with emphases on conceptual understanding and applications. The course is ideal for students beginning in the engineering, physical, and social sciences.
