James Castagnera

James Ottavio Castagnera, J.D., Ph.D., is a highly experienced academic with more than a quarter century of broad and varied experience in American higher education, most notably involving labor relations and employment issues, regulatory and administrative matters, and risk management. He has been the Director of University Communication at Case Western Reserve University and a law professor at the University of Texas-Austin, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Widener University School of Law. For the past 16 years he has served as the Associate Provost and Associate Counsel for Academic Affairs at Rider University, where he also holds an appointment as Associate Professor of Legal Studies in the College of Business Administration. For 10 years he was a labor lawyer with a major Philadelphia law firm. Dr. Castagnera also is the Managing Director of K&C Human Resource Enterprises, a freelance writing, editing, and consulting service. He has published 18 books, as well as numerous journal, magazine, and newspaper articles, primarily on higher education and human resources law, as well as on risk management.
